Editorial Design Today Vol.1 - 4

We're hearing more and more about how magazines just aren't selling anymore, and that arts and culture magazines in particular are being discontinued, one after another. What this means is the environment in which our arts and culture exists and is communicated is changing on a daily basis. Now, in the aftermath of the Tohoku Pacific earthquake of March 11, the magazine industry in Japan is battling shortfalls in paper and ink supplies, creating further problems for the already struggling market.
Which is why we've decided to launch this feature series, in which we talk to some of the editorial designers who have been central in shaping the magazines and books that have promoted and supported arts and culture in Japan since the 1990s. How do they feel about books and design now, and what do they think the future holds? This feature turns the spotlight onto the designers who have been key figures in shaping contemporary editorial design and the 1990s culture scene, for their take on the future of cultural publishing in Japan.

Planted Revolution Vol.1 - 4

"The duty of the arts is not to imitate nature, but to express it." These are the words of the great literary master Balzac. "Planted Revolution" is a new column in which we speak with artists who use flowers, trees, and other forms of plant life as motifs or materials about everything from their perspective on nature to how they make their art.
